PSC Assieme: The App for Innovative Union Communication

The Union's needs

The Union provides its members with a range of services, including:

• Dissemination of news related to the sector, covering various thematic areas such as the latest developments in the work environment of the Police Forces or internal union events and promotions;
• Production of informative videos, focused on providing in-depth legal support to members, thanks to interventions from lawyers and professionals;
• Broadcasting of live events: training sessions, assemblies, debates, etc.;
• A Wiki, providing useful information on various topics, such as legal protection, the rights and duties of Carabinieri, as well as benefits offered by the State and the Union;
• A Web radio, offering news and entertainment content 24 hours a day;
• An archive of content, also sourced from external services, that must always be accessible;
• A chatbot that members can consult at any time to obtain useful information.

Access to the above services must be granted exclusively to Union members. 
Additionally, the management required a tool to quickly inform all members at specific moments, for example, just before a live broadcast starts or when urgent news or communications are published.

Pianeta Sindacale Carabinieri was already offering some of these services through the reserved area of its website. For live broadcasts and the video section, the Union had long been using the video streaming platform of our partner WimTV.

To ensure its members an optimal content consumption experience even on the go, the Union turned to Archibuzz for the design and development of a mobile application that would make it easy to listen to the radio, connect to live videos, consult regulations, or request information at any time.

A mobile app dedicated to the union

Thus, the PSC Assieme app was developed for iOS and Android systems, using the React Native framework.

AI-Based ChatBot integration

Through the PSC Assieme app, members have the ability to consult an AI-based ChatBot capable of providing accurate answers to members' questions of interest.

News and content archive

Within the news area and archive, members can have access to all news and archive documents. A search form allows quick retrieval of any content containing the desired keywords.

Live broadcasts and on-demand videos

Within the mobile app, members have access to the entire video library of the Union, and when live broadcasts are being aired, they can be viewed in a dedicated section.
A notification system informs members about new videos or the start of a live broadcast.

Personalized notifications  

Through the back-end, administrators can send push notifications to members with a customized message, which will be received immediately by all members who have installed the app on their phone.

Web Radio

Members can listen to the Web Radio of Pianeta Sindacale Carabinieri directly within the app and continue listening to broadcasts even with the application running in the background.

Tribuna Editrice

During their duties, members often need timely access to legal and judicial information. For this reason, the PSC Assieme app integrates a database of content provided by Tribuna Editrice, a publishing house specializing in this field.

The administrator control panel

To enable the Union to distribute content to its members, a dedicated back-end was developed using the Drupal 11 platform.

Once logged into the back-end, Union staff can:

• Manage members' accounts;
• Insert/update news, Wiki content, and archive materials. These contents will be immediately visible on the apps once published;
• Send push notifications to members upon publication of specific content or with a custom message.

The PSC Assieme application is an excellent example of how technology can be used to improve communication and service delivery within a union organization.
